Syncing your data across multiple devices
The whole point of using a cloud based solution such as Nextcloud is to sync your data across multiple devices such as your main working PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. To do that, you need to know what software or apps to install on your devices.
On Computer
- To sync files – Download and install the official desktop client. You can find client installer for macOS and Linux from same page too.
- To sync calendar, contacts and tasks – Download and install eM Client for Windows. This software provides free license if you are not using it for more than 2 accounts. Otherwise, you need to purchase a pro license.
On Android Phone
- To sync files – Install the Nextcloud app.
- To sync calendar, contacts and tasks – Install DAVx5. After that, the data in your calendar and contacts will sync to your phone’s native calendar app and address book app. To access your tasks, you need to install another app known as OpenTasks. You may use other apps that support Caldav (calendar) and Carddav (contacts) protocol, but your result may varies.
On iOS devices
- To sync files – Install the Nextcloud app.
- To sync calendar, contacts and tasks – Caldav and Carddav are natively supported in iOS devices. No extra app is needed.
