Online marketplace eBay, announced that close to 12,000 new members registered on ebay.com.my in the first 30 days following the launch of its upgraded local site on Nov 13. The latest figure stands at 30,000.
According to research firm IDC, Malaysia currently has more than 15 million Internet users and e-commerce is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17% through 2010.
"The surge of new registration on eBay.com.my is encouraging as it indicates that Malaysians recognise this potential and are becoming more comfortable with trading online," eBay vice-president Dan Neary said in a statement.
